Important results from the project
The objective of the project was to evaluate whether the method could be commercialised, and if so, find the most appropriate commercialisation route. The project reached its goals. It was found that the method has a good market potential and may offer a competitive solution for the casting industry.
Expected long term effects
Different studies were conducted to verify the technical and commercial viability of the method, providing positive results in terms of freedom-to-operate, patentability, market needs and competitiveness, technical validation, product design and manufacturability, aas well as possible commercialisation routes.
Approach and implementation
The project has been running during 3 years through 4 phases, each of them defined in discussion with Vinnova. The project has involved a core team of researchers from Swerea KIMAB, as well as consultants from different organizations to gather the required compentences in terms of market analysis, patent strategy, technology and market expertise, as well as product development based on measurement techniques . Beside the validation of the viability of the approach, the project has increase the level of competence of the core team to develop a commercialization plan.
