Important results from the project

The aim of this project has been to map out and increase the understanding of China´s development in AI and what implications this has for decision-makers and the private sector in Sweden. The goal has been to create an understanding of China´s national AI policy, leading actors in the Chinese AI ecosystem, challenges and opportunities for China going forward, and a brief overview of implications for Swedish AI actors. This aim has been fulfilled through a detailed written report on China’s AI ecosystem.

Expected long term effects

The primary expected impact of the project has been an improved understanding of developments in AI in China. The expected result has been a detailed mapping of China´s AI ecosystem. The result and the expected effects have been fulfilled through a detailed written report and an upcoming seminar in collaboration with leading actors in the Swedish AI ecosystem.

Approach and implementation

The project started on April 1, 2022. Information has been gathered from written sources and in-depth interviews with people who work in or have knowledge of AI in China. Talks have also been held with representatives of the Swedish AI ecosystem. The draft of a written report was completed at the end of October 2022 and has since then been read and commented on by select parties. A seminar in collaboration with representatives from the Swedish AI ecosystem is planned to take place on November 30, 2022.
