Important results from the project

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The goal of the project was a current situation and needs analysis regarding researchers´ careers outside academia as well as an action plan for how to reach further in the area of academic career support. The purpose of the project was to better understand what we need to do together in different parts of society to help international junior researchers find their place in the non-academic labor market.

Expected long term effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** Needs mapping and current situation analysis have been carried out via 2 questionnaires and approx. 40 interviews. This data has resulted in a report on what different actors would need to do in order to help international junior researchers into the non-academic labor market. The report has received wide distribution and many positive responses. In addition to the report, a launch event was also held which was seen by over 100 people. We expect this to create ripple effects and we plan to continue finding venues to spread the insights from this report.

Approach and implementation

The project group consisted of 6 participants from 4 different universities (LiU, KI, MaU, GU) to cover the national perspective. We focused our investigation around 4 perspectives (the researcher´s, the universities´, industry and other relevant actors). For the researcher and university perspectives, we wanted both quantitative and qualitative data, so we conducted a survey and in-depth interviews (approx. 12 per perspective). For the industry, there was already some secondary data, so 11 interviews were conducted . For other actors we selected 6 relevant actors to interview.
