Biomethane web-platform to foster biomethane usage as renewable vehicle fuel

Reference number
Coordinator NeoZeo AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 1 500 000
Project duration June 2017 - June 2018
Status Completed
Venture Strategic innovation programme for process industrial IT and automation – PiiA

Purpose and goal

Wireframes were made for both internal discussions and feedback from user interviews. An app prototype was made on the Expo Development Environment by November 2017. A dynamic router running on custom script was installed in NeoZeo’s demonstration module in Lövsta, Uppsala by January 2018. Tests confirmed that data could be sent and received from the module remotely. The first versions of the User App and Web-Platform were published on the iTunes Store and Google Play Store in February 2018.

Expected results and effects

Research was conducted on the feasibility of incorporating a pricing algorithm to provide the best price for both Biomethane End-Users and Biomethane Producers. The basics, benefits and drawbacks of such a mechanism were explored. Case studies from Uber and Airbnb were analyzed and compared with the Biomethane Web Platform to find out similarities and insights on how these case study features could be used to model those of the Web Platform. Legal implications were also investigated.

Planned approach and implementation

Surveys and interviews with biogas car owners were also conducted. Presentations on the Biomethane Web-Platform were done on several occasions. A list of events at which the presentations were given are PiiA Summit 2017 in Västerås, Sweden on 11 October 2017; Nalen, Stockholm on 6 December 2017; Farmers’ Meeting in Linköping on 31 January 2018; Presentation at Sala Kommun on 14 March 2018; Biogasdag at Sötåsenskolan, Töreboda on 22 March 2018.
