Important results from the project
The BACE concept has been further developed and refined, and a strong consortium has been established in preparation for the next call. During the project, the initiative was broadened through merging with one VINNOVA cluster and two VR clusters, integrating innovation capacity with leading research excellence. This has resulted in a unique, nationally anchored constellation with high relevance, strong ecosystem alignment and significant future potential.
Expected long term effects
The project lays a solid foundation for strengthening Sweden’s position in bioanalysis, enabling more effective collaboration between academia, industry and healthcare, reducing fragmentation and increasing attractiveness for both national and international investments. This may contribute to faster implementation of new methods, improved quality and reliability in diagnostics and increased competitiveness of the Swedish life science sector, while strengthening the overall innovation system.
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out through an open and inclusive process with broad engagement across the ecosystem. Dialogues with stakeholders from academia, industry, healthcare and public authorities were used to refine the vision. The approach also included engagement with several other clusters, resulting in a merger with three of them, one from the VINNOVA side and two from the VR side, thereby creating a stronger and more integrated structure spanning from basic research to implementation.
