Important results from the project
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The overall goal of this project was to develop a new bio-based concept for high-performance composites (aSMC) and demonstrate the properties of a working link arm. The project succeeded in producing a promising aSMC material that could be tested in production. Due to the complexity of the project, a fully functioning product was not fully achieved. Further adjustments of the tool and a more comprehensive adjustment of the aSMC properties to achieve good tool loading would be required for this.
Expected long term effects
This project has clearly shown the potential of the studied aSMC material. Within the framework of the project, all steps from idea to product have been implemented. Measured material properties and specific product requirements have been used to design a link arm with a geometry adapted for manufacture in an SMC process. A full-scale press tool has been manufactured, installed and used. The project has also clarified the need for extensive tuning work to adjust the aSMC properties to a specific product to achieve good quality over time.
Approach and implementation
The project group consisted two institutes and six companies. The group was well composed with clear interests for each partner without overlap. This made the work during implementation smooth and conflict-free. The project had an objective and a number of sub-objectives. The project work was carried out in work packages where each work package was responsible for its sub-goals. The project was divided into two parts, material development and production. Because of Corona, this plan was distorted. The necessary extension of the project resulted in a loss of focus and commitment.
