Important results from the project

The project has carried out activities, created recurring meeting places and events and initiated research collaborations and project with aim of promoting a competent mining industry at the interface between universities, regional companies and relevant stakeholders in Bergslagen. This has contributed to fulfilling the goal of increasing Bergslagen´s competitiveness and becoming a more active part of the national mining industry.

Expected long term effects

The project has strengthened the collaboration with actors in Bergslagen and the ecosystem within the national program, Swedish Mining Innovation. Large research and development projects have been started together with technology suppliers, mining companies and SMEs. There are also interests and started collaborations between LTU and ORU. Örebro University has become a meeting point for the actors, with new technology and new ways of thinking.

Approach and implementation

The project has had a very active and committed steering group with representatives from the national program, Region Örebro county and the three companies Epiroc, Zinkgruvan and Boliden. It has been valuable for the project´s anchoring and reception in the region, both within the public and private sectors. The node and the activities carried out have been integrated and seen as part of the national program and the program office, which has created a more coherent picture of the mining industry in Sweden, both within the country and in international contacts and collaborations.
