Call Business models and solutions for sustainable battery applications

Purpose and goal

Battflex develops and verifies scalable solutions and business models for battery-based power flexibility in apartment buildings and other rental properties. Through battery storage, energy management, electric vehicle charging and local solar power, the project aims to reduce power peaks and electricity costs, streamline the use of the electricity grid and strengthen the robustness of properties. The goal is also to create new business models between property owners and energy companies.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to demonstrate how battery storage and smart energy management can reduce power peaks, lower electricity costs and enable more electric vehicle charging without costly grid reinforcements. The results will provide verified technical solutions, increased robustness in the event of power outages and new business models for flexibility. In the long term, Battflex will contribute to more efficient use of the electricity grid and a scalable electrification of rental properties

Planned approach and implementation

The project is being implemented in collaboration between property owners, technology suppliers, researchers and energy companies. Battery storage, energy management, electric car charging and solar electricity are integrated and tested in real property environments. Through measurement and follow-up, power reduction, economy, robustness and usability are evaluated. In parallel, business models and forms of collaboration that support scaling and commercialization are being developed.
