Important results from the project
The project has met its objectives as planned and delivered key results such as technical analysis, concept visualizations and identified technology gaps. All work packages were completed on time, with insights from the mining industry through interviews and workshops. The project has also provided increased understanding of sensor and automation technology selection and infrastructure requirements, and laid a solid foundation for future pilots and prototype implementation.
Expected long term effects
The project has laid the foundation for future development of autonomous solutions for media supply of drilling rigs and other machines in underground mining. In the long term, this is expected to reduce the need for human presence in dangerous work zones in underground mines and thereby contribute to safer, more efficient and sustainable mining. The project also strengthens the Swedish industry´s innovative capacity in automation and can contribute to new business opportunities globally.
Approach and implementation
The project followed the planned structure with work packages and clear responsibilities. Regular workshops between the parties ensured an efficient flow of information and created a common understanding of the project´s objective. The discussions contributed to identifying technical challenges and formulating relevant solution concepts. Through working meetings with the mining industry, practical experience and the needs of the industry were integrated into the concept development.
