Purpose and goal

The aim of this sub-project (1) has been to prepare and plan a collaborative project focusing on "economically, ecologically and socially sustainable technology solutions for gentle and productive forest regeneration through automation". The objectives has been to implement this in 4 different work packages containing 1) External and GAP analysis 2) Development plan 3) Market analysis and platform for simulation and system analysis 4) Work meetings and network building. Aim and objectives is fulfilled in that we have implemented and documented all work packages.

Expected results and effects

The external- and GAP analysis have identified a number of issues prior to stage 2. The development plan has shown a reasonable time-plan for designing, testing and commercializing an autonomous platform Market analysis showed that the imagined system could be realistic based on terrain conditions of at least 50% of the forest land area We have built a simulation platform and model for system analyzes to use in future project. And we have a well-composed consortium / project group for stage 2 with SCA, Södra Skog, Skogforsk, LTU, KTH and Bracke Forest.

Planned approach and implementation

The arrangement in 4 different work packages with different responsibilities distributed at LTU, Bracke forest, SCA and Skogforsk has been well balanced and adapted based on the budget in the project. The implementation has resulted in documentation, time and development plan, simulation platform and a well-composed and for Swedish forestry relevant consortium that is expected to be able to implement future projects with high quality. The implementation was carried out well within the schedule for the project.
