Automatic hoofspray with enviro friendly hypochlorous acid

Reference number
Coordinator ANOLYTECH AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 400 000
Project duration November 2013 - August 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project was to find an alternative and environmentally friendly method for the treatment of hooves that prevents digital dermatitis. We have indications from the feasibility study that anolyte is effective against Limax and mild eczema, which is stage 1 of digital dermatitis. Our goal was to install and evaluate 6 test farms, which we attained.

Results and expected effects

The test farms have shown evidence that we have attained the results we expected. Results are attained even though we had some problems during the test with the equipment.

Approach and implementation

We have learned a great deal from the feasibility study. We note that the number of farms and type of farm has been well chosen. Of requirements and contracting of test clients can be improved in order to have a smooth and good follow-up, with a relevant choice of sites. The information to the customer must be deeply rooted among all who work around the equipment, in our case, so we focused too much on the owner of the farm and not enough on the operating staff. Anolytech has shown a good ability to handle the test farms during the operating period. Hoof Carers should have been contracted in advance
