AUTOMATED SAFE AND EFFICIENT TRANSPORT SYSTEM
Purpose and goal
The aim of this project was to build a platform for autonomous vehicles for both restricted areas and public roads, which can be used for further development in the future. This system can then be used to increase safety and optimize efficiency.
Expected results and effects
The ASETS project has demonstrated that it is possible to drive autonomous trucks both in the mine and on public roads. A technical solution has been created to be able to use the same solution in the different application areas. The safety case is a key part of creating safe autonomous transport solutions that guided the entire project. The project has created a Safety Case for the research project. However, this research project can not be seen as the goal of safe autonomous transport on public roads and restricted areas, but has been an important step in the right direction.
Planned approach and implementation
- The project builds an argument for safety that guides all development of autonomous transport solutions. - The project needs to develop a transport management system to handle transport missions and optimize transport flow. - The project needs to create functionality to control the truck´s movement for a given route through the mine. - The project needs to determine the position of the vehicle both on public roads and in the mine - The project investigates the productivity of the Boliden mine and Renova refuse trucks
