Important results from the project

Using Startup Genome’s frameworks and methodologies, we quantified the strengths and gaps in the three Swedish ecosystems. The analysis included founder survey, sub sector analysis and SSOP analysis. Through the analysis, we were able to recommend next steps that will bridge these gaps and accelerate the success of the ecosystems. While working with the Vinnova team, we explained our methodology & shared resources enabling the team to scale the analysis across different ecosystems in Sweden.

Expected long term effects

Some key results we were able to achieve are: 1) Identification of strengths and gaps in the three ecosystems across funding, talent, global market reach, global connectedness and local connectedness. 2) Identification of sub sector strengths based on the analysis of local corporate fabric, university strengths, funding and performance and patents published. 3) Identification of key gaps in the SSOPs including the absence of curriculum-based programs, sub-sector based training and their mentor network.

Approach and implementation

1) For the founder survey, we worked with the Vinnova team to add survey questions based on project priorities. The survey was then distributed with the help of local partners. 2) For identifying gaps, the survey data was used to create 100+ metrics and these metrics were then evaluated based on Startup Genome’s success factor model. 3) For the SSOP assessment, we worked with the 8 SSOPs across the three regions. Through multiple interviews, we were able to identify the strengths and gaps of these SSOPs
