Important results from the project

The project´s aim was to try to answer the question "By using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning methods, can the Labor Market and Social Administration´s (ASF) data on the labor market and financial assistance help us understand why some Malmö residents seeking support are better equipped for the labor market than others?" The project has succeeded in answering this question, and the answer is: no. A main reason for this is deficiencies in the data and deficiencies in connection with the registration of data.

Expected long term effects

The project has identified shortcomings in data and data management. The organizational learning that the project has stimulated means that ASF is now preparing to remedy the shortcomings so that the administration will be ready to take the next step on its so-called AI journey. The project´s final report describes the measures the project recommends to the administration. The report is available on the project´s My AI page: https://my.ai.se/projects/258, under Resources.

Approach and implementation

The first part of the project was carried out as a degree project that ended with a Bachelor´s thesis, also available at the project´s My AI page. The second part was carried out as a project employment. The implementation has largely been in line with the plan for the project that was described in the proposal to Vinnova (on the project´s My AI page, under Resources), with a number of work packages focused on data analysis as well as a work package focused on the democratic and ethical implications of using AI in social services. The project has, as planned, published a final report.
