Project duration May 2019 - September 2019
Status Completed

Important results from the project

572/5000 The purpose of the project was to investigate the conditions for a system that can automatically assess animal welfare. BMP Innovation looked at all aspects, technical, commercial and market. BMP has already solved the most difficult technical challenges, but those that remain should not be diminished. The market challenge lies in developing a system that has its value in that it provides a higher return and / or reduces costs while not adding work steps. The commercial challenge in the industry is distribution. One way would be validated.

Expected long term effects

505/5000 By, in a first step, developing a simple system that can provide a measurement, such as body temperature, and solve a clear problem, such as BRD, and thus introduce the technology and working method will be an effective way to approach the market. And, when there is a product that meets the end users´ requirements for usability and the benefit is fully validated, demand can become very high and it can become industry standard very quickly. Then the system can be expanded and new methods be introduced.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out in three parts, all of which collaborated. The technology was tested by performing data simulations which were then tested on collected data. Furthermore, the conditions for a system with all that it would entail in new working methods and methods were examined by interviewing end users (farmers). Great emphasis was placed on talking to those who show interest in new technology. Contacts were made with major industrial stakeholders about how our solution can fit into their development plans.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
