Coordinator Aqua-Q AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration November 2018 - November 2019
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The purpose was to test in a pilot process scheme AQUATRACK®, an online monitoring and sampling system with control of ozone polishing equipment to treat filtered STP purified wastewater. Perform various tests and investigate variations of micro-contaminants in purified wastewater, bacteria and drug residues. The aim was to investigate this cost-effective pioneering industrial process on a smaller scale and to investigate the reusability of purified wastewater for various purposes eg. technical water and fill the water reservoir.

Expected results and effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** Expected to control the ozone polishing system with start / stop controller with information from AQUATRACK. The manual prototype works satisfactorily. Expected results of bacterial analysis, ozone polishing effectively reduces bacteria in purified wastewater, outcome reduction>95%. Accredited lab. analyzed drug residues before and after ozone treatment, ozone polishing was expected to reduce drug residues by about 50-60%, reduction of most drug residues>80% some less, caffeine was greatly reduced, reduction of COD, BOD, color, odor.

Planned approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The plan for AQUA-REUSE project was to install AQUATRACK® and an ozone polishing system in a container at Arboga treatment plant. The system was run in batch to show the possibility of to convert purified wastewater into industrial technical water for, among other things, irrigation and filling groundwater reservoirs. The implementation worked well, but in order to obtain better and more even analysis results some optimization of process and software development as well as long-term execution in a larger container is needed. The process is patented.
