Purpose and goal

Advanced Realities for Cultural Innovation in Europe (ARISE) aims to develop EU´s higher education in advanced digital skills, especially human-computer interaction (HCI) and extended reality (XR) in collaboration with universities, industry associations, companies, SMEs and EIT Digital. ARISE develops modules on HCI and XR, trains and certifies over 150 participants at master level for students and professionals for increased advanced digital skills and Europe´s competitiveness.

Expected effects and result

To develop a Masters programme in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Extended Reality (XR) and train at least 150 participants in ten member states in the field. ARISE will also develop stand-alone online modules on HCI and XR, designed to provide flexible, in-depth learning opportunities. ARISE aims to bridge the gap in advanced digital skills in Europe and increase competitiveness in key digital technology areas.

Planned approach and implementation

A double degree master´s program in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Design with XR (ISCED level 7, 120 ECTS), with specializations in immersive media, spatial computing and a minor in innovation and entrepreneurship (I&E) will be developed. ARISE will also design and offer flexible, self-contained modules – both online and in-person – aimed at professionals who need to further or retrain in XR development and design.
