Important results from the project
APPEND has been developing an automatically generated (DPP) for the furniture industry. with a focus on circular economy and traceability. Through workshops, international collaborations and presentations in several countries, the project has contributed to increased knowledge about DPP. The results include new research publications, granted project such as STELLA, and the establishment of networks and collaborations within the EU. A film and several events have disseminated APPEND´s results.
Expected long term effects
The APPEND project can strengthen traceability and transparency in the furniture industry, facilitate sustainability certifications and enable informed decisions. International collaborations can open up new markets and strengthen the competitiveness of Swedish companies. The project´s technical solutions create a foundation for digital transformation and standardization of PPproduct passports. Research and dissemination of DPP can lead a more sustainable industry and better use of resources.
Approach and implementation
APPEND has engaged Johanson Design, ICS, Sigma, Delori and LNU in the development of a digital product passport (DPP), through 6 work packages. Workshops, prototypes and CMS systems have been developed to manage product data and certifications. LNU has disseminated the research internationally, while Sigma and Delori have developed technical solutions. The project has led to business contacts in the EU and the USA as well as approved research and innovation projects such as STELLA and DIC.
