Purpose and goal

The technical level in artificial intelligence (AI) is today very high, in particular within diagnostic imaging where, for instance, research studies consistently show results at par or better with human experts for certain tasks. The possibilities for healthcare are revolutionary, but the path to making these opportunities a reality in routine care is challenging. The purpose of the project is to support the individuals who in healthcare, academia and industry work to realize AI innovations in healthcare.

Expected effects and result

Expected effects, within AI for diagnostic imaging, are that innovations will reach actual use in healthcare, that the healthcare sector´s knowledge about the usefulness of technology will increase, and that internationalization of Swedish technology will increase.

Planned approach and implementation

Analytic Imaging Diagnostics Arena (AIDA) has been created to catalyze large-scale benefits of modern AI in healthcare, through cross-sectorial collaboration. During its first years, AIDA has successfully created a national collaboration with broad and sharp operations targeting several decisive factors for innovation and practical use. The project mainly consist of prolonging the AIDA operations in the refined form they have evolved into today, but this next phase also includes a better synchronization and synergy with the other parts of the Medtech4Health program.
