Analysis of areas biogenic carbon flows in agriculture and wood industry

Important results from the project

The study provides an overall picture of Sweden´s biogenic carbon flows, from forests and agriculture to industry, society, exports and imports. In addition, use of the material, reuse and recycling are included. An aim was to describe the availability of data and its quality. It emerged that raw material flows are described in open and reliable data, while recycling and reuse in several sectors lack reliable data.

Expected long term effects

In the longer term, the industry can build its production on processes that benefit even more from the raw material than today, and every part of wood becomes valuable products that can replace fossil alternatives.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out with the same setup as previous area analyses. Collection of data from open sources, interviews with key persons and round table discussions where access to information was discussed and the overall picture of the biogenic carbon flows in Sweden.
