an IoT based service model for elevators

Reference number
Coordinator Sicada AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 92 119
Project duration July 2017 - September 2017
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

During the project, the technical qualifications have been succesfully established. Based on these, hardware and software specifications have been developed, complete with pricing. On the economical side, the value of project continuation has been deemed appropriate by the project parties and continued development is highly relevant. Due to this, the project will consist of the same parties with similar responsibilities going forward.

Expected results and effects

Given the technical specifications, the hardware has shown to be cheaper than expected. This finding is, however, offset by the somewhat increased complexity of the software functionality. In summary, the result show great promise for further development and both project parties are interested in a prototype installation phase with a parallel software development process.

Planned approach and implementation

During the project, it became clear that a critical part of the solution viability, is to make the application truly useful for the technician. Partly, because they are intimately acquainted with elevators, but also because they constitutes the only input stream, via the app. The workshops with the technicians was therefore a very valuable forum. To follow technicians out in the field and observe their work also proved to be very helpful in specifying the functionality and hardware specifics.
