Purpose and goal
The project showed a great possibility to collaborate with industry and academic partners in Brazil, and created opportunities for students from both countries to develop their knowledge. A PhD student from Brazil had the opportunity to come to Sweden and get knowledge from Chalmers. An optimisation platform was implemented, based upon previous work, to optimize the propeller blades for three different concepts, the propeller in freestream, Boundary layer ingestion and ducted concepts.
Expected results and effects
Future projects are planned between the partners of the INFLOPROP project, and accademic exchange between ITA and Chalmers have been ever increased. The expectation is to go on the research with a bigger and more result-oriented project now that the methods are implemented and in place, and the collaboration proved to be fruitful.
Planned approach and implementation
The different cultures between Brazil and Sweden slowed down the process initially. The two different ways of financing, the Swedish and Brazilian way changed the expectations that the Embraer had on ITA and GKN on Chalmers. But all and all the project layout happened as planned.
