Important results from the project

The planned Eurostars application, to improve lymphedema care through innovative compression textiles, was unfortunately not implemented due to challenges in establishing a consortium. At the same time, market analysis led to a strategic re-prioritization towards compression products for venous leg diseases instead. Resource constraints made it difficult to run parallel projects. A new collaboration was initiated to further develop products within the venous segment to meet market needs.

Expected long term effects

The innovative compression products are expected to significantly improve the treatment of venous leg diseases, including hard-to-heal ulcers. Early results from a small study indicate that healing time can be significantly reduced and the number of hospital visits can be reduced by approx 50% thanks to faster healing and improved self-care with our innovative technology. In the long term this can contribute to more cost-effective care, increased accessibility and improved QOL for patients.

Approach and implementation

The project activities included defining the consortium to meet Eurostars and national/regional criteria, evaluating different manufacturers to select the most suitable partner and assessing the TRL of the technology. The need for technical, clinical and regulatory data was investigated and several prototypes were developed together with the selected manufacturer. Agile project management and regular digital meetings were held throughout the project.
