Important results from the project

The project has evaluated an AI solution for achieving visibility into vehicle and cargo flows. With 10 cameras installed at four reading points, data has been successfully collected and visualized via a dashboard, providing valuable insights into movement patterns within the port, including train sequence readings and hazardous goods identification. The results strengthen efforts in sustainability, efficiency, and safety while laying the foundation for further innovation.

Expected long term effects

The project is expected to enhance security, efficiency, and sustainability at the Port of Gothenburg through data-driven insights into flows and movement patterns. With AI-based technology, the port can optimize transport, reduce environmental impact, and strengthen its competitiveness. The results also create new opportunities to develop industry standards for digitalization in logistics and port operations. In the long term, the solution can be scaled up and applied to other ports globally.

Approach and implementation

The project followed a structured plan with clear activities to test and evaluate an AI solution in the port. The installation and operation of 10 cameras were completed, though unforeseen factors such as technical challenges, delivery delays, and laws impacted the timeline. Collaboration between the Port of Gothenburg and suppliers worked well and was crucial for resolving issues. Despite challenges, the project achieved its goals and laid the foundation for future development.
