Important results from the project
The objectives of the project was to 1. Investigate how the Swedish process industry solves the ratio control problems today. 2. Explore the need for improved ratio control solutions. 3. Develop an easy to use method for active ratio control. 4. Implement the new method in industrial control systems. 5. Test the new method industrially. The first four points are completed and the fifth point will be implemented during the coming month.
Expected long term effects
The project showed that ratio control is a very common problem in the process industry. About 15% of all controllers are working on this problem, which means several hundred in a normal process industry. The need for an improved functionality exists, since current solutions can not address all the disturbances that occur.
Approach and implementation
The arrangement to divide the project into two parts has been very good. In the first part, we have investigated the market and the problems present in the process industry today. In the second part, we have developed a new method that handles the problems that are not handled by the methods the process industry uses today. The industrial tests are planned and will be carried out shortly.
