Purpose and goal
In this project Acconeer and Sandvik will combine their strengths to develop a material classification system for aggregates on conveyor belts. By monitoring material on the conveyor belts, actions can be made at an early stage, which for example may lead to reduced re-crushing and reprocessing. Consequently, this will yield a decrease in the energy consumption per unit of the produced product.
Expected effects and result
When the Smartare elektroniksystem Research and Innovation project is completed, Sandvik will have an aggregate classification prototype ready that can rapidly be included in Sandvik’s product offerings and provide the customer with savings in cost and energy. Acconeer will have reference applications for material classification for its next sensor generation that can be rapidly spread globally in existing channels.
Planned approach and implementation
The project consists of 6 work packages and the main deliverable is a demonstrator for material classification for aggregates on conveyor belts. Sandvik and Acconeer will work together to establish requirements, hardware, software, data collection, and testing. Sandvik will make its test beds available and Acconeer will supply its latest generation multi-channel radar to the project.
