Important results from the project
Yes, the project achieved the main objectives set. The purpose of the planning grant was to establish a strong consortium as a basis for a proposal of a full-scale cluster of excellence. An important part of the result is that we have contributed to a consolidation of initiatives, where several previously separate groupings with planning grants have been brought together into a more cohesive constellation. This has strengthened both the breadth and the strategic relevance of the planned cluster.
Expected long term effects
The project is expected to have created a more cohesive and competitive environment for metallic materials in Sweden. This improves the conditions for attracting larger national and international investments, as well as establishing long-term environments of excellence in the area. This can long term contribute to strengthening Sweden´s position as a leader in sustainable and advanced metallic materials, which is central to the green transition, digitalisation and industrial competitiveness.
Approach and implementation
The work has been carried out within the framework of regular project meetings and workshops, mainly between academic partners and institutes. Individual discussions have been carried out with a number of different industrial partners. A larger external workshop has also been carried out with large participation from industrial partners and industry organizations.
