Purpose and goal

Digitalisation can improve efficiency and safety in railway maintenance. The aim of the project is to map the challenges related to the implementation of digital methods in railway maintenance and find solutions by creating a roadmap, framework and models that can help accelerate development. The goal of the project is to jointly create a roadmap, framework and models for the accelerated implementation of digital methods in railway maintenance in the railway industry.

Expected effects and result

Successful implementation of digital methods in railway maintenance is expected to lead to increased resilience and robustness of the railway system as well as resource-efficient and sustainable asset management with better maintenance planning through increased knowledge of the railway system. The results from this project are expected to stimulate the pace of innovation and are enablers for implementing digital methods for railway maintenance.

Planned approach and implementation

The project chooses to focus on the possibilities for using digital methods within some types of contracts for the maintenance of the railway infrastructure. This will result in the industry´s joint proposals for new, flexible and innovative contract models. Proposals for models that can contribute to the shift that should take place will be verified, validated and anchored within the railway industry.
