Important results from the project

The project fulfilled its aim to provide a input to the SMM program office, to enable it to make a call for research relating to whole-of-society defence, total defence, with a focus on a resilient metals- and minerals supply.

Expected long term effects

As the project contributed to making a call for research possible, the expectation is that the ensuing research and innovations will contribute to a more resilient metals- and minerals production, involving several industrial and societal levels and engage several industries.

Approach and implementation

The project began with a short literature review, reflections and information gathering with the aid of a reference group. Then the project involved a preliminary adaptation to the format of Vinnova´s call for research and innovation. All of this during the autumn of 2025. In early 2026 collaboration began for designing the impact innovation call, followed by additional knowledge support about Sweden´s total defence.
