Important results from the project
The objective of the project was to investigate the conditions for new water flow management policy instruments, and develop a proposal for new policy/legislation in aim to prevent society´s negative impact of climate change. It was also intended to investigate in general terms what consequences the proposed new policy would have for actors. These objectives were achieved. The project group gained an increased willingness to work together.
Expected long term effects
The developed management tool can hopefully help stimulate ongoing development work at authorities and within water organizations, as well as stimulate debate about how climate change can be prevented locally.
Approach and implementation
The development of the proposal was carried out in a co-creative process where researchers in hydrology, economics and law collaborated with water conservation organisations, local and regional government as well as land owners. A policy dialogue was carried out in three stages with physical meetings at different locations in the Kialån catchment area.
