Important results from the project
The aim of the project for production of biobased pentaerythritol from 3HPA using different environment-friendly catalysts has been partly fulfilled. Useful information has been obtained that will be used for further investigations.
Expected long term effects
- Potentially new synthetic routes for production of PE from 3HPA - Data on cross-aldol condensation of 3HPA with aldolase - Data on cross-aldol condensation of 3HPA with anion exchange resins - Aldolase with interesting features for future project - 1 Manuscript for publication Success of any of the routes for production of bio-PE will have a positive effect on the greenness of the polymer, coatings and adhesive products.
Approach and implementation
The production of biobased pentaerythritol from 3HPA has been performed using different environment-friendly catalysts. Useful information has been obtained that will be used for further investigations. PE production process can be integrated with 3HPA production from glycerol. The production of bio-PE will have a positive effect on the greenness of the polymer, coatings and adhesive products.
