A new instrument for efficient process and improved quality control within the fluids processing industry

Reference number
Coordinator SIK - Institutet för Livsmedel och Bioteknik AB - SP Göteborg
Funding from Vinnova SEK 1 000 000
Project duration December 2013 - December 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

In a first step, the new electronics platform was successfully integrated with our system. In the second step, a fully functional prototype was developed that meets industrial requirements. The performance of the Flow-Viz system was evaluated in an industrial environment and it was demonstrated that the Flow-Viz system can lead to cost savings for the customer. The project has now resulted in a commercial product that has already been successfully tested for several products and applications.

Results and expected effects

The project has now resulted in a commercial minimum viable product for industrial applications. The Flow-Viz system has been successfully validated on an industrial scale for several applications with different customers and was demonstrated to meet each customer´s requirements. The Flow-Viz system can and is expected to replace the current time-consuming, operator dependent and outdated measurement systems thus leading to improved opportunities for process and quality control.

Approach and implementation

The new electronics platform was successfully integrated with our developed Flow-Viz system. The performance of the new measurement system was then verified in experimental trials, both on a laboratory scale and in an industrial environment with the customer. Comparisons with existing measurement techniques showed that the Flow- Viz has many advantages and works well in industrial settings. The next step is to get full ATEX1 certification for the system and continue with extended ´field tests´.
