Important results from the project
The feasibility study proposes the establishment of an independent, national organization. with aim of creating better conditions for more startups to become scaleups and future Swedish growth companies. The organization will have three areas of activity: - National expert and referral body based on consolidated and analyzed data. - National meeting point to make the ecosystem accessible, regardless of geographic location. - National and international link in Team Sweden´s work with knowledge base on startups, scaleups and their eco-system.
Expected long term effects
Through the preliminary study, SISP wanted to identify: - what challenges Swedish startups have in their development journey to scale and grow - validate the need and interest of a national organization that takes on these challenges and - suggest how Sweden as a nation can create better conditions for more startups to become scaleups and how the work can be organized and financed. The result and commitment from the companies and the ecosystem has been great and led to a broadly rooted and concrete proposal for an independent national organization.
Approach and implementation
The preliminary study has acquired knowledge through dialogue with startups, scaleups and their ecosystems across the country, engaging over 1,000 people. We have arranged both interviews, workshops and dialogue meetings with companies, incubators, science parks, businesses, private and public financiers, regions, municipalities and authorities. We have engaged all organizations in Sweden that work in or for startups and scaleups´ growth journey, nationally and internationally. We also studied previous initiatives and identified good examples from other countries.
