Reference number
Coordinator CCRM Nordic AB (svb)
Funding from Vinnova SEK 4 985 516
Project duration April 2026 - March 2028
Status Ongoing
Venture Eurostars

Purpose and goal

The goal of RESET is to develop CD19-targeted CAR-NK cell therapy for systemic lupus erythematosus. This therapy integrates Glycostem´s highly cytotoxic natural killer cells from umbilical cord blood with antibody-based targeting to eradicate pathogenic B cells.

Expected effects and result

Allogen NK-cellsterapi offers a safer, dual-targeted alternative that reaches a broad range of patients. Cost reduction is critical to supporting healthcare systems and expanding access to patients lacking curative options. Production costs for NK cells, including gene engineering driven by lentiviral vectors, could be reduced with optimized manufacturing techniques, making these therapies more accessible and economically viable for the treatment of autoimmune diseases.

Planned approach and implementation

Targeting B cells in autoimmune diseases via CD19 CAR-T-celler/CD20-antikroppar is effective but can have side effects. Clinical partners at Karolinska Institutet and Erasmus MC will analyze patients´ immune responses using multi-omics data to establish a clinical trial protocol and explore broader applications for autoimmune diseases. CCRM Nordic will establish and provide a cost-effective source of lentiviral vector.
