Purpose and goal

Measurements of CD4 receptors on the surface og lymphocytes in whole blood samples by means of flow cytometry technology is the classical method for monitoring treatment of HIV infected patients. The reagent and the equipment are expensive, and may patiens do not have access to the technologies. Getica AB has - in collaboration with Gentian AS in Norway , with Oslo University Hospital and Sahlgrenska University Hospital, developed a near patient method for said monitoring, faster and less expensive than the flow cytometry reference method.

Expected results and effects

The project resulted in a successful calibration study in Gothenburg and successful measurements of the concentration of the concentration of the CD4 receptors in 50 patients treated for HIV infections at Oslo University Hospital. The project will will constitute the basis for optimasasion studies and adapting the methods to commercial products to be produced in Gothenburg.

Planned approach and implementation

and treatment of HIV patiens, and the result of the treatment and monitoring the patients have lead to improved prognosis for the patients. Further collaboration with the partners will lead to further commercial development of the assay technology and sales to the testing laboratories internationally.
