Silicon Valley Talks – straight from the center of emerging technology
Do you want to take part in the latest trends and insights from Silicon Valley, the world's tech center? Vinnova is now launching a new webinar series directly from Silicon Valley in California. Through the webinars, you will hear what's going on, ask questions directly to experts and make new contacts - without leaving Sweden. The aim is to connect the Swedish innovation ecosystem closer to Silicon Valley's opportunities.
Silicon Valley is a global hub for innovation. The US has long been one of Sweden's most important trading partners and by far the largest foreign investment market. Over 1,200 companies with connections to Sweden operate in the US, and around 1,500 American companies are established in Sweden. In line with the rapid development of technology, the US has taken on a more central role as a competence node in many areas that are important to Sweden.
Vinnova is located in Silicon Valley to develop innovation cooperation between Sweden and California. Our efforts focus on Swedish areas of strength, and we work to increase the visibility of Sweden as an attractive country to collaborate with.
Important to be at the forefront
– For Swedish actors to be at the forefront, it is important to have good knowledge of successful innovation environments around the world – and Silicon Valley is a unique ecosystem that continues to attract talent, capital and groundbreaking ideas, says Moa Persdotter, who is responsible for startup and ecosystem issues for Vinnova's activities at Silicon Valley.
Many of the world's leading companies and technology-heavy nations have their own innovation offices in Silicon Valley to keep up with the latest trends. By being there, Vinnova can help Swedish companies and organisations to be visible, make connections and create value in markets outside Sweden.
– The focus on webinars back home is part of this mission – to open up the knowledge and opportunities available in Silicon Valley to more Swedish innovators and entrepreneurs, continues Joakim Skog, who is responsible for strategy and coordination of Vinnova's activities in Silicon Valley.

A first webinar April 23
The first webinar is about the cooperation agreement that Sweden has with California and what opportunities there are. Why do we have an agreement with California and not with the whole of USA? Vad, are there any examples of application and what can the agreement mean for actors in Sweden?
Participans
- Henrik Bergfeldt, Deputy Consul General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, San Francisco
- Marcus Rönngren Liu, Senior Advisor, Strategic Partnerships, Green Transition Initiative, Palo Alto.
