The cooperation and economic ties between Sweden and Germany are strong. Our countries and societies face common challenges, including climate change, an aging population and increased global competition.
The cooperation is highly prioritized within the framework of the innovation partnership between the countries, which was concluded in 2017 and was last updated in 2025. In the long term, the partnership is expected to further strengthen the countries' competitiveness and lay the foundation for new export successes and jobs.
Who is the meeting aimed at?
Vinnova and its German counterpart, the Federal Ministry of Economy and Climate Protection and Project Manager AiF Projekt GmbH, are now offering an opportunity for project funding for collaborative projects for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in a new call for proposals. (Note that the number of employees is up to 499 in this case.) Germany, which is described as Europe's economic engine and one of the world's largest industrial nations, has shown great interest in SME collaboration between the countries.
Swedish-German collaboration
An exciting opportunity is thus offered for companies, as above, to start joint project around product development, technology-based services or methods in all technology and application areas. The projects should in the next steps be able to generate sustainable solutions with both market potential and the ability to address societal challenges in an international context.
During the meeting, we will present how Sweden and Germany collaborate today and what opportunities exist to find the right international partner. We will review the content of the call and the application process for both Swedish and German actors, and also share experiences from a successful German-Swedish innovation project that tells the story of its journey from proposal to ongoing collaboration.
