What constitutes a Living Lab and how does it relate to how we collaborate in Sweden? To answer this question, we get help from Jennie Barron from SLU, who has participated in both the EU partnership EJP SOIL and the PREPSOIL project that laid the foundation for the EU's Mission Soil. Jennie talks about a recently published report that compares several Swedish project with what is required of Living Labs in Horizon Europe.
Another example is AKIS, the knowledge and innovation system for agriculture. Jennie Cederholm Björklund from the Rural Network talks about why collaboration is important, the benefits of understanding AKIS and how to work with collaboration within the Landsbygdsnätverket (The Rural Network).
The EU Mission Soil aims to increase understanding of the importance of soil health and generate new knowledge that is put into practice. The EU Mission Soil has a call for proposals in 2026 that specifically targets Living Labs in forestry or semi-natural forests. But also other calls for proposals where collaboration is the key to success.
The EU partnership AGROECOLOGY (Accelerating Farming Systems Transition: Agroecology Living Labs and Research Infrastructures) aims to increase the transition towards a more sustainable agriculture. In December, the partnership will open a new call for proposals where collaboration will be sought, both between different disciplines and between researchers and other actors.
To achieve the goals, both programs contribute to the establishment of so-called Living Labs, where researchers and stakeholders can collaborate, test and demonstrate new solutions. You will gain more practical knowledge about how these programme work and tips for a proposal.
The seminar also offers the opportunity to briefly present a project idea to find others to collaborate with in a proposal. You can register your interest in presenting in the registration form. There are a limited number of places and we cannot guarantee time for everyone.
The seminar is aimed at researchers, farmers, foresters, other types of landowners, civil society actors, companies and other actors with an interest in soil health, land use and agroecology. A warm welcome!
It is possible to participate in person at KSLA in Stockholm, or to register to listen in digitally.
