Important results from the project

Objective met: Yggdrasil, a future prototype meeting room, united the AI-augmented voice of the forest, biophilic design, and bio-based materials. It demonstrated more sustainable ways to design meeting rooms and how brain-friendly design inspired by nature fosters calm and psychological safety, while AI tools trained on team dynamics and human behavior amplified collective intelligence in conversations.

Expected long term effects

Yggdrasil points to several areas with long-term significance for the climate transition: AI-enhanced decision-making with a multitude of perspectives that strengthen sustainable strategies, growing demand for bio-based materials in the face of new regulations, and brain-friendly design in combination with AI as an amplifyer of psychological safety and collective intelligence. Ministerial visits and large interest show potential from a policy and competitiveness perspective.

Approach and implementation

Future foresight with interviews and AI-enhanced roundtable discussions with a broad range of expertise provided input to the speculative design of a future meeting room at Stora Ensos’s Biomaterials Innovation Center. AI trained on human behavior was fed data about the forest. Bio-based materials and biophilic design demonstratee how future workplaces can be more sustainable and promote psychological safety and the collective intelligence we need to solve wicked problems.
