Important results from the project
All three planned project goals were fulfilled: solutions for reporting with a wireless button, voice commands, and presentation of combined data on a map. Packaged as an iOS mobile application and an underlying data platform. Early feedback from users is positive. This project has accelerated our continuous learning and development loop that will allow us to reward sustainable commuting behavior with more helpful features faster.
Expected long term effects
The project developed the support tool for a bike commuter with a focus on the winter season. The tool is a mobile application and a supporting data platform for collecting, processing, and presenting crowdsourced information about the road conditions on the commute routes. Innovative user experience has been implemented to drastically simplify data reporting for end-users with voice and remote button controls.
Approach and implementation
As we were building on the knowledge acquired in an earlier project and with partners we’ve had a productive relationship, the execution was affected only by the factors outside of our control, such as delays in wireless button delivery, warm winter conditions, and later pandemic. These unexpected external events, listed below, didn’t prevent achieving planned results. We’ve adapted our approach and delayed some of the extra goals we’ve set for ourselves.
