Important results from the project
The aim of the project was to provide a basis for decision making regarding an interdisciplinary graduate school for the metals industry. This has been successful: There is one overall objective and nine research questions, committed companies and committed scientists ready to carry the work forward.
Expected long term effects
The direct effect of the project is that an inter-disciplinary graduate school could be initiated. The subsequent effect is that the metals industry will be better prepared for the organisatonal, management and other working life changes that will be brought about by digitalization, and have a number of tool to deal with those changes.
Approach and implementation
The project has been carried out by conversations between the project implementers and a large number of representatives from industry and academia, one-on-one as well as in workshops. The conversations have underway been summarised in memoranda, which have been discussed in the steering committee, whereupon the questions have been refined and a new series of inerviews has been performed. This has led to a final document that is supported by industry as well as academia and thus forms a good basis for coming efforts.
