Purpose and goal
The aim of the project is to develop a practical and efficient framework for distributed ISAC in 6G. The goal is to introduce purposeful decisions about transmitter and receiver roles based on target characteristics, so that sensing and communication can be optimized simultaneously, even under realistic constraints such as interference, synchronization errors, hardware shortages, and resource limitations.
Expected effects and result
The project is expected to provide new models, fusion methods and algorithms for role assignment in distributed ISAC. The impacts will be better sensing performance, more efficient spectrum use, safer autonomous systems and strengthened European competitiveness in 6G. The results can also support smart cities, mobility and robust public infrastructure.
Planned approach and implementation
The work is carried out in three stages: first modeling practical constraints such as self-interference, synchronization errors and operational requirements; then development of sensing, signal processing and fusion methods for different DISAC topologies; finally optimization of the assignment of transmitter and receiver roles for efficient area scanning and target tracking.
