Important results from the project
This project has been in collaboration between Uppsala University (UU) and ABB Corporate Research (CRC). The research field is tribology and tribomaterials and the primary goal was scientific qualification of the Vinnmer Fellow. The strategy was to get her involved into a current ABB project of high priority, and to identify and explore new research topics of common interest. The aim of the project has been fulfilled.
Expected long term effects
It was expected that the project should assist the Vinnmer Fellow in strengthening her experience and specialization in the fields of tribology and materials engineering, in the field of industrial systems and applications, to create relevant network, and to develop general professional skills such as project management. In addition, the project should contribute to the strategic competence in tribology at ABB. All these aspect have been included in the project.
Approach and implementation
The project has been running for 3,5 years. The VinnMer Fellow has spent 1-2 days per week at ABB CRC, as a member of the group working with isolation systems and materials. The VinnMer Fellow has been involved in different projects that have been run in cooperation between ABB CRC and different business units of ABB. The implementation of the project has been excellent.
