Important results from the project

In collaboration, we have created an efficient and user-friendly digital package that can be marketed and distributed in and outside of Sweden on a commercial basis. The package contains materials for the start-up, implementation and evaluation phase, including games and tools for collecting active transportation research data. There are three identified success factors for successful implementation; it must be perceived as safe for parents, fun for the children and simple for teachers. We therefore consider that we have met the objective we stated in the effect logic.

Expected long term effects

With the vision of increasing active school travel among children in Sweden, the project has created an efficient, digital innovation that makes it easy for schools to get started. We have identified barriers to implementation and influenced policies in this area by working towards a new recommendation for active school travel. Independent studies have been done to measure the effect of the innovation and measuring instruments for important mediators have been developed. A commercialization model and a plan for implementation including a global perspective have been developed.

Approach and implementation

The project has been carried out through a continued involvement and a deepened collaboration between all actors. Since the innovation involves a large number of parties, we have focused on an in-depth system perspective and a plan for how the solution is to be introduced and managed. The work has been carried out in five work packages: "Project management", "Identifying opportunities and obstacles to implementing the innovation", "Developing a comprehensive digital solution", "Evaluation of the innovation´s effect" and "Plan for implementation including a global perspective".
