Purpose and goal

The project aims to improve forestry by developing an AR-based solution for analysis of forest environments. The goal is to combine Katams AI-teknologi with, for example, DigiLens AR-glasögon to enable measurement of trees, biodiversity and identification of hazards in the forest environment. The solution will contribute to more efficient and sustainable forest management, a safer working environment and global application in different forest types.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to provide an AR solution that enables analysis of forest environments, including tree measurement, biodiversity assessment and hazards in the field. The impacts include more efficient forest management, safer working environments, increased transparency and better data collection. The solution can also contribute to global sustainability goals, create new markets for biodiversity credits and facilitate comparisons of forests over time and regions.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is being implemented in four phases: 1) Preparation and planning, including software development and AR glasses testing. 2) Implementation, where Katam´s solution is integrated with DigiLens AR-glasögon. 3) Testing and verification in forest environments in Sweden, the USA and Brazil. 4) Market study and planning for further development. The collaboration between Katam, DigiLens and Weyerhaeuser ensures technical innovation and practical application.
