Important results from the project
The project shows clear indications that it is possible to attract software developers by means of a properly designed SDK to create the automation solutions of the future in the mining and construction industry.
Expected long term effects
The visual prototype together with the developers´ feedback will be a strong communication material for the spreading the vision and support decision making about its future internally at VCE. In addition, there is currently a first draft of a requirement specification that can form the basis for the next step towards an SDK.
Approach and implementation
Our method of "exploring", "creating", "testing" worked well as a condensed variant of design thinking. We worked data-driven while at the same time we reached a visual prototype for user tests. Unfortunately, the result has not yet been widely presented to VCE due to the Corona crisis. When this is done, we look forward to exciting discussions and increased interest in taking the next steps towards the vision of open forms of cooperation for the development of the automated mining and construction industry of the future.
