Important results from the project
The purpose of the project was preparations for a pilot study on an alternative remuneration model for new antibiotics of particular medical value. The project has mapped the prerequisites for such a pilot study, including procurement, and thus contributed with increased knowledge prior to launching the pilot study.
Expected long term effects
The model has been evaluated from a legal and financial perspective as well as the terms that should be included in a potential agreement with relevant companies. Proposals for terms and funding for a pilot study have been developed. Discussions with relevant companies are expected to be initiated in autumn 2018. The Public Health Authority has now been commissioned by the government to conduct a pilot study according to a previous government assignment on availability of antibiotics. The assignment shall be reported to the Ministry of Social Affairs by 31 December 2022 at the latest.
Approach and implementation
The work has been carried out through internal work at the Public Health Authority, external meetings and reconciliation with the Ministry of Social Affairs.
