Important results from the project
OLA developed a virtual assistant that assists the elderly user in self managing their health care, well being as well as everyday challenges. A number of innovative solutions were created by the project partners, these have been integrated into a working OLA prototype that is currently being tested by end users in Portugal, Hungary and Sweden.
Expected long term effects
The OLA system was developed and extensively tested and in addition to this, the OLA project have led to several new products such as an intelligent balance scale that measures the cognitive status of the user and a new method for localisation of the user in their home. Commercialisation of OLA and other results will be pursued. Additionally, an elderly Swedish voice for speech synthesis for elderly have been developed.
Approach and implementation
Two of the project participants were replaced during the project. This led to changes, both of OLA as product and the implementation of the user tests. Thanks to a committed consortium and good cooperation between the partners, the project has still worked well. Technical development as well as user tests and interviews with end users and stakeholders have led to both useful technical results and interesting insights for the participating companies.
