NUMBER 101036168 European Processor Initiative (EPI) SGA2

Reference number
Coordinator ZeroPoint Technologies AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 698 877
Project duration January 2022 - December 2024
Status Completed

Important results from the project

The project largely met its objectives. ZeroPoint Technologies has verified its memory bandwidth acceleration technology on an FPGA platform and achieved the expected results: 30–50% bandwidth acceleration and 15–30% energy reduction. Although the EPAC 2.0 chip was not manufactured, the project produced important results, including improved integration tools and strengthened collaborations within the consortium.

Expected long term effects

The project is expected to contribute to more energy-efficient and high-performance data centers and AI accelerators, which can reduce operating costs and climate impact. The verification on the FPGA platform strengthens ZeroPoint Technologies´s competitiveness and enables faster commercialization. In the long term, the results can position Sweden as a leading player in energy-efficient and innovative technology solutions.

Approach and implementation

The project largely followed the original plan, focusing on integration and verification of the technology. Although the EPAC 2.0 chip was not manufactured due to increased costs, all planned activities were carried out up to the manufacturing stage. The verification on the FPGA platform showed that the goals were achieved. Collaboration within the consortium worked well, and the project successfully adapted to unexpected challenges.
