Important results from the project
The aim was to evaluate the market potential of microwave technology for quality measurement in the forest industry, verifying the technical requirements for the possible products and of the market segments; sawmills and harvesters, as well as developing the business plan for further development and commercialization.
Expected long term effects
We have identified there business opertunities; sorting of timber in sawmills, optimisation in sawmills and analysis in the harvester. Proof of concept of the customer demands for these oppertunities have been performed, with a positive result in all but one demand, which still needs to be proven.
Approach and implementation
In the first study a market and IP analysis was conducted. In the three following mile stones were proof of concept studies were performed, first in a sawmill environment, then in the harvester. Business analysis were included in all four milestones.
